Song of the Day #76: 九拍 (Nine Rhythm), by 唐朝乐队 (Tang Dynasty)

Tang Dynasty, China’s first heavy metal band according to a number of sources. To me, their first album remains a classic to this day ever since I checked their stuff out as couple of years ago.

I recall seeing a review on RYM that described it as “4 john myungs playing different instruments” which was pretty funny.

Song of the Day #75: Halfsharkalligatorhalfman, by Dr. Octagon

Some of the trippiest hip hop I’ve heard (or I can remember). Hell, I recommend the whole damn album; it’s that good!

The Shape Of Punk To Come, by Refused
Like, damn. I think I’m slowly starting to get into Post-Hardcore thanks to this album, as well as At The Drive In’s third album and Meet Me In St. Louis’ only album.
ALSO, THERE’S A FREAKING VIOLIN IN ONE OF THE TRACKS. YES, A VIOLIN IN A HARDCORE PUNK ALBUM AND IT TOTALLY WORKS.
This might grow on to be one of my favourite albums of all time (if not, then it’s a solid 4.5 for me).

Song of the Day #75: What Are You Wearing (Shinco Remix), by Kahimi Karie

muttersprache:

We skipped the light fandango
turned cartwheels ‘cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
but the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
as the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
the waiter brought a tray

And so it was that later
as the miller told his tale
that her face, at first just ghostly,
turned a whiter shade of pale

She said, ‘There is no reason
and the truth is plain to see.’
But I wandered through my playing cards
and would not let her be
one of sixteen vestal virgins
who were leaving for the coast
and although my eyes were open
they might have just as well’ve been closed

She said, ‘I’m home on shore leave,’
though in truth we were at sea
so I took her by the looking glass
and forced her to agree
saying, ‘You must be the mermaid
who took Neptune for a ride.’
But she smiled at me so sadly
that my anger straightway died

If music be the food of love [see note, left, about this verse + its opening]
then laughter is its queen
and likewise if behind is in front
then dirt in truth is clean
My mouth by then like cardboard
seemed to slip straight through my head
So we crash-dived straightway quickly
and attacked the ocean bed

I believe these are all the covers for Emiliana Torrini’s CDs during her trip hop period.

Song of the Day #74: 空飛ぶ都市計画, by capsule

Updates have been scarce since I’ve been incredibly busy with my final major project for the past number of weeks (I should of mentoned this ages ago).

But yeah, hopefully eveything will be fine after the end of this week.

Song of the Day #73: The Children of Sunshine, by Dandelions
